B2 Directorate for Economic Relations with SE Europe, CIS and the BSEC countries
The Directorate is competent for:
- The study and submission of proposals aiming at the development of the bilateral economic relations with the above countries
- The preparation of the appropriate institutional framework of economic cooperation through the conclusion of agreements
- The monitoring and handling of issues related to the commercial, economic and technological cooperation
- The preparation of the Joint Intergovernmental Committees and the responsibility of the bilateral negotiations
- The monitoring and handling of intergovernmental issues in cooperation with the competent authorities
- The monitoring of the economic and commercial relations with the above countries in collaboration with the Embassies of the Hellenic Republic and the Offices of Economic and Commercial Affairs, the competent Ministries and Agencies of the Hellenic Republic, the relevant entities of the private and public sectors in Greece.
B2 Directorate is divided into two departments. The competences of each department are the following:
I. Department of Economic Relations with Balkan Countries
The department has the following competences:
- The promotion of bilateral economic relations with the countries of Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia- Herzegovina, Croatia, FYROM, Serbia and Montenegro) as well as with Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey
- The monitoring of the european or international financial and development programs for the above mentioned countries
- The monitoring of Hellenic Plan for the Economic Reconstruction of the Balkans (HiPERB) implementation
- The monitoring and participation in the Initiative of Adriatic and Ionian Sea
- The monitoring of Stability Pact
II. Department of Economic Relations with Russia, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the monitoring of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (B.S.E.C.)
The department has the following competences:
- The promotion of bilateral economic relations between the countries of Russia, Commonwealth of Independent States (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan)
- The monitoring of the B.S.E.C. Organisation and the representation to the meetings and the committees of the Organisation
- The monitoring of the European Neighborhood Policy
- The monitoring of the european or international financial and development programs for the above mentioned countries.
