SCHENGEN VISA CONDITIONS

General information regarding Schengen Treaty is available to the web pages: www.gov.mfa.gr  or www.eurovisa.info

The Consular Section accepts applications for Schengen visas only. However VTL visas are granted in extra cases of emergency, for humanitarian reasons or in the framework of Greece’s international obligations (urgent participation in conference etc) after previous approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece.

The visa application should be submitted to the Consular Authority of the country of the destination.

(Download the application in .pdf form)

 (Télécharger l’application sur forme .pdf)

In case of visits to more than one Schengen countries you are kindly requested to submit the application to the consular authority of the main destination’s country, or in case of equal period of stay to the authority of the country of first entrance.

A previous appointment is mandatory for the submission of the application. It can be fixed through “Teleperformance” (telephone number 1248).

The issuance of the visa requires 15 days approximately. It cannot be accelerated.

All travellers to Schengen countries are requested to obtain travelling insurance covering repatriation expenses, urgent medical treatment and/or hospital admission for a minimum of 30.000 Euros. The insurance must be valid for all Schengen countries for the complete period of the journey (in case of long term visa for the first journey only).

A handling fee of 60 Euros will be charged upon submitting the application which is not refundable in case the visa application will be rejected.

It is important to consider the following information regarding your Schengen visa before departure. Schengen visas do not constitute automatically the right to enter the Schengen territory. Upon arrival you may be asked by the border authorities to provide, in addition to your valid passport and visa, information or supporting documents concerning the purpose of your visit, the length of stay, the financial means and travel insurance. In order to avoid any delay or inconvenience, you are advised to bear with you copies or the originals of the documents submitted with the visa application. If the prerequisites for entry or transit do no longer apply, or if you are not in position to provide the required evidence, you may be refused the entry by the border authorities even though you are holder of a valid visa.
