I. Diplomatic relations

The Greek Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, is also accredited to Laos, whilst conversely the Embassy of Laos in Paris is also accredited to our country.

For consular affairs Greece is represented by the German Embassy in Vientiane.

II. Political relations

The vast distance between the two countries and the lengthy isolation of Laos have not allowed much scope for the development of bilateral political relations between the two countries.

Greece now expects to develop relations with Laos on the multilateral level, following Laos recent accession to the international organisation ASEM (Asia- Europe Meeting).

Laos supported Greeces candidacy for a non-permanent position on the UN Security Council.

Laos established diplomatic relations with FYROM under its constitutional name on 6 March 1996.

There have been no high-level visits to Laos.
