I. Diplomatic relations
The Greek Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, is also accredited to Malaysia. Conversely, the Malaysian Embassy in Berlin is at the same time accredited to our country. There is an Honorary Greek Consulate in Kuala Lumpur.
II. Treaty Framework
A maritime agreement between the two countries is currently awaiting signature.
III. Political relations
Political relations are developing gradually on the multilateral level, while there is also scope for development in bilateral relations.
Our country supports a sovereign and democratic Malaysia which respects the principles of human rights and makes an active, positive contribution to regional and international cooperation.
The King of Malaysia and Sultan of Perlis visited Greece in August 2004 to attend the Athens Olympics.
IV. Economic and trade relations
Economic relations between the two countries are at a relatively low level, with the balance of trade favouring Malaysia. However, there are opportunities for the development of closer economic ties, with Greek construction companies undertaking projects in Malaysia. There is also scope for cooperation in the tourism sector, where Malaysia is anxious to promote development. Trade flows between the two countries are presented below;

Greeces main exports to Malaysia are specialised machinery, non-ferrous metals, tobacco, metal goods, medical products, minerals and fruit. Our main imports from Malaysia are industrial equipment, oil, footwear, paper, rubber, vehicles and telecommunications equipment.
V. Greek community
There are no more than ten Greeks resident in the country, most of them living in Kuala Lumpur.
