The state of Tuvalu formally accredited the Greek Embassy in Tokyo in October 2003.
The two countries work together within the framework of various international organizations. Tuvalu supported Greeces candidacy for a seat as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2005-2006, whilst Greece backed Tuvalus candidacy at the UNEP. Tuvalu also co- sponsored the resolution calling for an Olympic Truce.
III. Economic and trade relations
Greece provides development aid for Tuvalu on a bilateral basis but also through the UN Action Plan for Sustainable Growth in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
