I. Diplomatic Relations
Greeces Ambassador to Norway has parallel accreditation for Iceland. In Reykjavik, there is also an Honorary General Consulate. Icelands Embassy to London has parallel accreditation for our country.
II. Political relations
Bilateral relations with Iceland are very good. The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias, visited Iceland in 2006 (5-7 July). During his visit, an Agreement on the Avoidance of double taxation was signed between Greece and Iceland. The Prime Minister of Iceland, Mr. Geir H. Haarde, visited Athens on 28 August 2008 and met with Prime Minister Mr. Kostas Karamanlis.
III. Educational/Cultural Relations
The Hellenic-Icelandic Cultural Association, founded in 1985 in Reykjavik, with its 200 members, has undertaken significant activity with a view to strengthening ties between the two countries. The Associations soul is Mr. Sigurdur A. Magnisson, a well-known writer and actor.
