I. Diplomatic Relations

Greece is represented in El Salvador through the parallel accreditation of her Embassy in Mexico City.

II. Framework of Treaties

A bilateral Agreement on the abolition of visas is in force.

III. Political Relations

Bilateral political relations are very good. Greece supports the peaceful settlement of El Salvadors territorial disputes with Guatemala and Honduras.

IV. Economic and Trade Relations

Trade: according to data from the Greek National Statistical Service, the trade balance with El Salvador shows a surplus for Greece and amounted to 409,705. More specifically, Greek exports to El Salvador amounted to $551,484 and imports to 141,779.

Greece has given $50,000 as development aid for the reconstruction of a school called Helleniki Demokratia which was destroyed during the 2001 earthquakes. The foundation stone was laid in October 2004.

V. Cultural Relations

Greece offers scholarships for postgraduate studies through the State Scholarships Foundation and the Onassis Foundation.
