The purpose of the Translation Service is to validly translate public and private documents and other texts. Translations of foreign public documents are provided only if the documents bear the Apostille stamp for the countries that are parties to the Hague Convention, which was ratified in our country through Law 1497/1984 (Government Gazette volume A, no. 188). In all other cases, documents must be validated by the Greek consular authority in the country of origin of this document or by this country’s consular authority in Greece.
For documents from countries (such as Albania and Georgia) regarding which Greece has expressed reservations as to their adherence to the Hague Convention, so long as these reservations still stand, only documents validated by the competent Greek consular authority will be accepted.
Public documents are the documents provided for in the abovementioned Hague Convention.
